Emily's Story

Emily Bermingham Yoga

Emily is a 200-hour yoga teacher and also certified through Online Yoga School as a restorative yoga teacher.  Here is her story:

Aloha!
My name is Emily and I was born and raised in Denver, CO and I currently live in Hawai’i on the island of Oahu. I became interested in yoga, meditation, pranayama, and alternative medicine following two spinal injuries and two autoimmune disease diagnoses that left me using a walker after 24 surgeries. I credit yoga, Ayurveda, alternative medicine therapies, and a healthy lifestyle for helping to heal the autoimmune diseases and for giving me the ability to live an active lifestyle. I am a 300 hr certified Ayurvedic wellness coach through The Shakti School and a RYT 200 Certified Yoga Instructor. I teach Foundational yoga classes and Restorative yoga classes in Hawai’i at Yoga Under the Palms and I own and run a Yoga and Ayurvedic Wellness business called Ignite Balance, LLC (www.ignite-balance.com). I have also been an adjunct professor for a decade and teach Sociology and Professionalism classes. I am a military spouse and a mother of two and I love to spend my time paddleboarding and hiking. I integrate Ayurveda into my yoga classes and yoga into my work with Ayurveda clients. I strongly believe that yoga is for everybody and it is a great pleasure and true honor to be a transmitter of this knowledge. I am passionate about empowering others on their own wellness journey.

Carmita's Story

Getting my 200HR through Online Yoga School was only a matter of time. I grew up attending yoga classes off and on with my mother. When I was in college I took a yoga course (but didn't really comprehend it). As an adult yoga continued to swerve in and out of my life. Then while living in Columbus, Ohio, running my pet care business yoga crept back in. I wanted to teach my pet parent clients how to bond and learn more about their pets when they were home, so I started teaching dog yoga. One of my best and final dog yoga programs took place when the shutdown went into effect in Ohio. One day after, as I stood in line at the grocery store with anxiety about what was going to happen to my business and the world around me I decided that then was as good a time as any to turn my focus from animals to humans. It was then that I registered for my 200HR class with Online Yoga School. I registered through my phone, and that's when a new journey began. The program taught me so much I never knew was a part of yoga. It allowed me to learn about myself and look at the world through a different lense. It's been about two years and some months since the pandemic shutdown and the same amount of time since finishing my 200HR. I now share the word, history, and asanas of yoga with all those I meet through classes I teach at parks and events and through social media. (Sometimes, I still teach classes that are pet friendly.) Yoga not only improved my mental and physical health but my overall life, and continues to do so each and every day I wake.
